17-y.o. Kazakhstan-born orphan girl adopted from Kazakhstan at the age or 8 has testified against her adoptive father Joseph Mayotte, 50, The Milford Daily News writes. According to the alleged victim, the father raped her for 5 years since 2004, after they moved to Whitinsville. She told the juries that the father started sleeping in the same bed with her when she was 8, just one month after she was adopted. Back then the parents told the girl that their house was haunted and she was scared to sleep alone. "It pretty much became a routine right away," she said and noted that her adopting mother Linda Mayotte did not share the bed with them. According to the alleged victim, several months later Joseph started touching her inappropriately. “I was confused, shocked, I didn’t know how to react,” she said. Later the father started other forms of sexual activities with her, despite of her resistance. Sometimes he watched porn in her presence. "I'd never been in that situation before so I didn't know how to react," she said. Some time later the girl told about the abuse to the neighboring girls, who told everything to their parents and police. However, when police officers and social workers arrived, she denied she was abused. “I never had a father figure before. I finally did and didn’t want to lose that,” the girl said. “I finally had a family. I didn’t want that to break apart.” Earlier her brother testified that Linda Mayotte sexually abused him from 2005 to 2007. The abuse only stopped when she became pregnant with his child. DNA test has confirmed that he was the child's father. Joseph Mayotte, 50, and his wife Linda Mayotte, 49, are on trial on 26 charges each, including statutory rape of a child, indecent assault, battery on a child under 14 and incest.
